allison and eric’s wedding was one of the first weddings richie and i shot together. and ever since, we consider them to be almost family to us! so we were THRILLED to hear they were expecting a baby this year! in fact, this is the first year ANY of our couples have started having babies! and its been so very exciting to get to share in their families growing! this month we will get to welcome baby v into our family! last week we did a quick session for them here in wake forest. part of it was done at the same place as the previous blog post, the seminary here in wake forest! a cool fact… allison’s parents got engaged on this campus!! then the second half was taken in one of our favorite fields here in wake forest. and it was worth ALL the ant bites we both got! OUCH!!! sorry allison! below are some of my favs from our time together as we fended off the rain (and the ants)! soon some baby boy pictures will go up on the blog! can’t wait!!! love you AV, EV and baby V!!

{ miss lyla in the belly… }

as some of you know, in my “former life” (pre-photography) i was a labor and delivery nurse. for thirteen amazing years i got to welcome hundreds of babies into the world…. do i miss it? absolutely. and for a while i got to do BOTH my loves, and i got to photograph Lots of births and babies while i worked! seven years ago, loren was my patient. after hours of labor, she went for a cesarean section. but just as we started to wheel her back her camera wouldn’t work. “ahh but i have MY camera in the car!!” and i RAN like the wind to the car and grabbed my nikon and got to photograph mr brighton coming into the world! and it never matters how many babies you deliver, each one seems to be its own miracle! so it was SO sweet for loren to contact me, after all these years (thank you facebook), and tell me she wanted me to do her maternity and then newborn session! shes having a girl this time and i LOVE her name… lyla! miss lyla i can’t wait to meet you in a few weeks!!
