{ …and let me preface this by saying that title does NOT mean theres another baby coming…. thats what i was Screaming in the car… more to come on that in just a sec…. }   so last monday, may 14, my husband turned 40.  and me being the super good wife that i am (ha), decided to surprise him with a trip!  as most people know, we are together like 24/7.  all day.  everyday.  always together.  yeah we probably should split up sometimes. … NAH..  so planning a trip and it being a TOTAL surprise is really quite challenging with him always within shouting distance of me.  but i was very much up for the challenge!  first obstacle… deciding Where to go.  a couple weeks before said birth date i asked richie to make me a list of ten places he wanted to visit during the rest of our lives together.  on that list, actually listed Last, was key west.  “well That should be fairly doable,” i thought.  of course our second obstacle was “can my parents keep the kids??”.  i have the best parents (and parents in law!) in the world, so it wasn’t long before they told me that was totally practical.  yay!  this was going pretty well!!  i knew with zack gone to richie’s moms for the month of may and with the other kids in school, that this would be our only time in the next like 6 months for us to do this.  so after Hours of planning on the computer, and the trip booked (and me wondering why richie never asked why every time he walked past me i was on the same pinterest page….), and lunches packed for the week, and plans made for all the kids transportation, i was Almost ready….  now i gotta get richie in the car and headed to charlotte, where our flight left from.  “ahhhhh!  i can see if we can go to IKEA!!!!” BRILLIANT jamie!  BRILLIANT because that was a Totally normal thing for us!  we Love IKEA and we needed a couple things there, so i was like “babe, lets go to IKEA and eat lunch in charlotte for your birthday!”.  he was like “sure!”.  woohoo!  this was actually going to happen!!!  now when i say i wanted this to be a surprise, i wanted it to be a TOTAL SURPRISE!  so i packed everything, pretended to be storing his birthday present in the suitcase, and got everything out to the car.  ok, so i have to come up with some WAY COOL way to tell him what we are Really doing!  then, in best-wife-ever fashion, i came up with contacting 98.7 simon radio……  so here we were… driving to charlotte… passing thru burlington… when THIS comes on the radio… “we have a listener, richie staggs, its his 40th birthday today. he’s in a car right now with his wife and he THINKS he’s going to IKEA, but really your wife is surprising  you… you’re going to the AIRPORT where you are going to fly to KEY WEST!!!”  {{{{insert LOTS OF SCREAMING from me and a look of TOTAL AND UTTER shock on richie’s face}}}}  of course i videoed the whole thing and its on my facebook page so if you want to get the full effect, go there or here on youtube and see richies stunned face!  I DID IT!  i COMPLETELY surprised him!!!  ((patting self on back))   i love this guy SO DANG MUCH and i wanted him to always remember his 40th birthday!  we had a Fantastic trip but in normal jamie and richie fashion, the weather was kind of “eh” all week.  wish we could have seen the sun, but on the bright side we didn’t get burned!  (little sun humor there… “bright side”… haha)   i have had SO many people ask about pictures from our trip, so here they are!  trying not to overload with too many “richie-jamie-kissing” pics, so i tried to put very few of those up here.

RICHIE…. I LOVE YOU!  AND I CAN’T WAIT TO SHARE THE NEXT FORTY YEARS OF YOUR LIFE WITH YOU!!!  it’ll be fun.  like seriously!!  <3, your wife.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

oh and i Must thank all the people who allowed this trip to happen for us…. my besties chloe and courtney who helped coordinate the radio announcement, my parents for keeping the kids for four days, richie’s mom for keeping zack, and my neighbors who all pinched in to take jaden to dance everyday, and to all our clients who were ok with us taking four days off of work…. we are so lucky to be so loved by so many people!  <3

….now i really DO have to plan a trip to IKEA!…
