its engagement picture season!!  friday afternoon we got to meet up with betsy and devin in high point for their session!  it was also the first time we got meet them!  i’ve spent so much time emailing betsy but hadn’t gotten the chance to meet her until now.  both in medical school, they are apart right now, with betsy in winston and devin in chicago.  they fly back and forth as much as they can to be together and fortunately we could work it out to get their shoot in this weekend while devin was here in NC!  these two remind us so much of ourselves… giddy in love…. and not afraid of a little PDA to prove it…. and completely dedicated to each other, no matter….  betsy and devin, i am so glad you love your pictures as much as you do!  theres nothing better than to post a couple’s images at 2am and not only have them waiting up to see them, but to stay up to 4am picking their favs and getting me their list of images they want in their book!  then to get an email saying “… we really LOVE these jamie.  not only can you tell how much we love each other, but you can tell how much fun we were having with the two of you!!…”  i love our job.  i love our clients.  i feel so lucky to get to know people like betsy and devin, and to hear their story, and to show them what they look like in love….  <3

this is the location where they will have their reception this coming september! after a quick tour we knew we wanted to get a few pics of them here. its a Gorgeous place!

in honor of our first anniversary, i wanted to post some of our pics from our wedding!!  our super fast planned, mega-on-a-budget wedding was completely put together by us.  i put together my own bouquets from flowers at costco, we hand cut and sewed all our napkins for the cake eating, we bought all the silverware and cups and plates from antique stores.  our kids were our “bridal party” and we got all their dresses/shirts at TJ Maxx.  my mom bought my dress for me and it was PERFECT for me!  i tried it on and said “yup, this is it!” and loved every minute i got to wear it!  we got married in the morning at 10:30am and i can’t say enough about a morning wedding!!  we had the whole rest of the day to chill with family and friends and we were never rushed.  reverend barbara lodge was our officiant and we LOVE her!  she made our ceremony so perfect!  she was professional, but personal, and made our ceremony run completely smooth!  most of richie’s family came from memphis and all my family was there.  my best friend, chloe…. she was my rock.  she helped me get ready that morning.  we rode together to the cotton room and she kept me from completely flipping out that we were so late.  she helped direct the kids out at the beginning of the ceremony.  she signed our marriage license.  she was everything i could have asked for and i can’t thank her enough for all her help that day!  richie and i were her and nathan’s witnesses at their wedding, and they were ours at our wedding!  for our processional each of our children walked in to “dream” by priscilla ahn” and then towards the end of the song i walked in alone.  watching richie rocking back and forth waiting for me to get to him, i lost it.  there went the tears….. and he couldn’t stand it anymore and came down and met me halfway down the aisle and after hugging and kissing and holding each other, we walked the rest of the way down the aisle to be married.  we each said our own vows and after our first kiss, we immediately had our first dance right up there in front of everyone!  and then we had a super cool family dance that we all spent days working on at home!  and the kids were AMAZING!  they did so well!!  then we had cake and then headed to the Piedmont restaurant in durham for a brunch.  then we headed to my parents house and just chilled the whole rest of the day.  we had everyone around us, with all their love and support and encouragement for us.  the day couldn’t have been more breathtaking…  we could only HOPE each of our couples have the kind of day WE had that day….  it was definitely the best day of our lives….  here are some pics from our day for those who never got to see any!  (pictures by melanie litchfield at whitebox weddings)

sunday brought cooler weather.  it was richie and i’s first anniversary and we spent the morning going over our wedding day and how absolutely Perfect it was!  that afternoon, we headed out to the koka booth amphitheatre at regency park in cary to meet kayla and steven.  steven is very active in soccer so with his crazy tight schedule, we were happy to get a day to be able to do their engagement session, no matter what day!  and what a fantastic couple to spend a couple hours with on our day!!  they are so adorable together and while they are adorable, they both can also give “the look” that we love so much!  so it was a total pleasure to shoot the two of them.  one of those “ok, we are done” an hour and 15 mins into the shoot.  kayla and steven, you have the “it” factor, and we see a long, happy future for the two of you together… and THAT makes us very happy to see!  we hope you love your images!  we can’t wait for your wedding this august!  its going to be a Great day!

i love kayla's laugh! makes me smile every time i see it!

told ya... "the look"....

yup... gorgeous....

there was Plenty of sun to play with... so we did!! : )

richie and brittany and josh have cached for Years!  i won’t go into all the details here, but if you like an outdoor, fun challenge, google “geocaching” (or just click that word cause i just linked it).  so pretty much every time the three of them get together, they head back out into the woods.  and now theres a little guy, zack.  and they are very happy to bring him up in the caching world….  ;-)   today they spent the day together, and richie took along his polaroid and got a couple shots of them in the woods.  the kids are so lucky to have such an amazing dad!!  and no matter what, their bond is never broken….

richie and i have our first anniversary coming up on sunday… one year as mr and mrs richie staggs… one year full of changes… good and bad.  but through all thats been handed our way, we remain concreted to each other.  we have people say “we wish we were as happy and in love as you guys are” and we have to say that we gots a LOTTA love.  but we also have pain, too.  and our lives Aren’t perfect.  pretty much far from it.  we’ve been through a lot.  more than anyone knows but us.  still, i wouldn’t trade anything in the world to hold richie’s hand in the car, or lay twisted up with him every night, or to see our kids roll their eyes but smile when they see us kissing…  we’ve given each other a whole life.  a completedness.  and we’ve given our kids something even more… we’ve Shown them what love is.  and they will be free to enter the world of relationships Knowing what love is.  what it should look like.  what it should smell like.  what it should feel like.

so in honor of our anniversary, i start the week with gift number one…..  (**squealing with excitement**)

woohoo!!!  its our metal mural!!!  ahhh i have been SO excited to get this!!  now to get it assembled and put up, all by myself…  this would be much easier to say “babe, can you put this up real quick for me?”.   but its a surprise!!

i thought it was kind of ironic that while unpacking the box "say hey, i love you" came on my pandora channel. right after our first dance we had a family dance to this song. it was the cutest thing EVER!! so i just had to smile to hear this song come on... : )

sweet... i can just use the same spots these things were with our first metal mural!! right?... um my luck doesn't work that well... oh AND i introduce OUR NEW WALL COLOR!! but it really looks more grey than in these shots.

so ofcourse i had to move them... and this one just happened to end up right on a stud! dang stud! so i just casually left that one out....

and its UP!!!!! yay!!!! this is one (of MANY) of my favorite shots of us in vegas, taken by shannon and jeremy hollman of thousand words photography!!

ahhhh.... its so perfect!!! i am in *love*! thank you shannon for such an amazing shot of us! and thank you richie for kissing my shoulder every single day... i love you!!

so, as many of you know cause i keep talking about it, this weekend we had our first bridal show!!!  it was a private show at macgregor downs country club for all the couples having their weddings there this year and next year.  richie and i worked for weeks on making our booth perfect.  i equated it to your mom telling you she’s coming over in 15 mins and you go full-speed ahead cleaning and picking up…  this show was our kick in our butt to get product done we had been wanting to get done for a long time.  sample albums.  sample engagement books.  big matboards.  new business cards and marketing material. etc.  etc… etc……  per request from me, richie built a custom table from wood he got off of an abandoned 3/4 burnt down building not too far from our house.  its SO gorgeous!  and he made it so it folds flat when we aren’t using it.  he also built the frame for the backdrop, sewed the backdrop, made the candlestick holders, the poles to hold the matboards…. basically built every single part of this!  all the product…. my job.  we were SO pleased with how it turned out…. i can tell you This:  there was NO DOUBT what kind of vendor we were…. haha!  now for the pics….

i made this 5x7 linked set based on the idea of metal murals... i was so pleased with how it turned out!

richie workin it.... : )

...never ashamed of some PDA... xxoo
